Originally a native of the Chicago suburbs, I can now call Columbia my home as I have lived here more than half of my life. After college, I coached competitive gymnastics for a few years before moving to Columbia and beginning my career at Mizzou. I grew up focusing primarily on gymnastics, and as an adult, I found I love running. After years of watching CrossFit grow in popularity, I decided to take the plunge in 2014. CrossFit has deep roots in gymnastics, and once I started, I was reminded how much I missed gripping a bar and working on my hands. As many CrossFit athletes say, I wish I had started earlier
Running was a great way to get back into shape after having twin boys and try something new. I found comfort in running with friends and pushing myself to do what I thought was impossible. Once I hit my mid-30s, I knew weight training would be best for my long-term health and CrossFit seemed to offer a community environment that I knew I needed. Little did I know that starting CrossFit would be one of the best decisions I ever made.
I coach because I am passionate about positively developing others. Helping others gain confidence in their fitness journey is incredibly rewarding. Half the battle is believing in yourself, and if an athlete can’t do that at first, I can do it for them. Over time, I enjoy helping and encouraging athletes to try new things, take risks, and achieve PRs they didn’t think they could achieve.
